BHAKKTE PATEL
Data Scientist, Insurance - US

As a Data Scientist at LexisNexis Risk Solutions for over six years, I analyze auto insurance data to uncover insights that help internal stakeholders make informed, data-driven decisions.

In data science, mentorship programs, management development and technical training opportunities, and increased visibility for women in leadership have played a key role in accelerating career growth. Across the industry, these initiatives provide guidance, build confidence, and create opportunities for women to take on impactful roles. Having access to strong role models and a supportive network makes a meaningful difference in career progression.

For me, ‘Accelerate Action’ is about engaging with my immediate environment. Through interaction and exploration, I gain a deeper understanding of myself and my goals, which gives direction and intention to my actions. True acceleration isn't just about speed - it's also about moving forward with clarity and purpose.

My advice to the next generation of women is to be confident in your work and skills, seek out mentors and shadow opportunities, and actively look for ways to learn more about the business and our data. Don't hesitate to ask questions, and take advantage of platforms like ERGs and CARES events to drive meaningful change while also building valuable connections. Building relationships and continuously expanding your knowledge will open doors to new opportunities.

SHELLEY JEFFCOAT
Head of Employer Brand, Corporate Social Media, - US

I have been with LexisNexis Risk Solutions for over five years, leading a team that drives Employer Brand, Corporate Social Media, Risk Onboarding Change Management, and our Culture Awards program. My role is to amplify our company’s culture, showcase the impact of our people, and ensure that every employee—from new hires to senior leaders—feels a deep sense of belonging and purpose.

‘Accelerate Action’ is a call to move beyond conversation and create real, tangible change. It’s about ensuring women—especially women of color—have access to opportunities, leadership roles, and the support needed to thrive. For me, it’s also deeply personal. I stand on the shoulders of women who paved the way before me at other companies, and I feel a responsibility to do the same for the next generation.

One of the most impactful initiatives I’ve been part of is shaping how we tell our company’s story to attract and the best talent. Through employer branding, we have the power to elevate the voices of women in leadership, showcase their successes, and inspire others to see what’s possible. Additionally, our onboarding programs create strong foundations for new hires, ensuring that women—especially those historically underrepresented—feel supported, valued, and connected from day one.

For the next generation, my advice is to own your voice, trust your instincts, and don’t shrink yourself to fit into spaces that weren’t built for you, reshape them. As a Black woman in leadership, I know that sometimes we carry the weight of being ‘the first’ or ‘the only,’ but that doesn’t mean we have to be the last. Find mentors who push you, allies who advocate for you, and a vision that fuels you. Most importantly, never let self-doubt stop you from walking through doors that are meant for you.

CHLOE BASS
Marketing Operations Director, Business Services, Global - UK

I have been with LexisNexis Risk Solutions for over four years, where my role as a Marketing Operations Director is to oversee our operational processes to ensure they effectively support the wider team and help bridge the gap between our campaign drivers and the campaign delivery teams. I currently lead a significant project aimed at bringing in a new technology to overhaul how our business manages, tracks and reports on marketing campaigns.

One of the most inspiring aspects of my journey at LexisNexis Risk Solutions has been serving as a lead for the Women Connected UKI ERG. I’m grateful to Steph Owen and Michelle Coyle, who launched this group as it has reinforced the power of community and advocacy in empowering women across our UKI business. An upcoming highlight is our involvement in the Women in Data conference, where we will be providing a platform for women to share their expertise and strengthen their public speaking confidence. Looking ahead, we’re committed to expanding our impact through mentorship programs, dynamic events, and the launch of a blog to amplify the voices and success stories of women within our organization.

My advice to the next generation of women stepping into leadership is to believe in yourself and stay committed to growth. The path to leadership isn’t always direct, but dedication and confidence in your abilities will set you apart. Seek out mentors and role models who inspire you, and don’t be afraid to learn from those ahead of you.

SHASHA WANG
Director of Strategy & Business Development, US

I am the Director of Strategy and Business Development, working to shape impactful strategies, identify growth opportunities, and assess market dynamics. I also lead the formulation and execution of acquisition strategies to drive business success. After starting with Data Services in London in 2017, I relocated to Alpharetta, where I have been supporting Business Services since 2022.

To me, ‘Accelerate Action’ is a call to proactively create more opportunities for women to lead and thrive. It’s also about self-advocacy—empowering women to step forward, take bold risks, and confidently drive their own careers.

Mentorship has been one of the most impactful drivers in accelerating opportunities for women. Through the Women’s Connected Network, I’ve had the privilege of learning from senior leaders whose guidance and insights have been invaluable in shaping my career. Having someone who believes in you, challenges you, and shares their experiences can make all the difference in building confidence and navigating key career decisions. Equally powerful is representation—seeing women in senior decision-making roles. It’s incredibly motivating to witness women leading at the highest levels, not just because it reinforces that leadership is attainable, but because it influences conversations, decision-making, and company culture in meaningful ways.

My advice to the next generation of women is to believe in yourself, take risks, and own your aspirations unapologetically. Opportunities may take you further than you ever imagined. I grew up in a small village in China and have since lived and worked across the UK, France, and the US. The key is to embrace new challenges, push past self-doubt, and advocate for yourself. Leadership isn’t about waiting for permission; it’s about stepping forward with confidence and making an impact.

KENYARI BRADLEY
Regional Account Manager, ICIS - US

As a Regional Account Manager with ICIS, I focus on building and strengthening relationships with our customers, ensuring they have the insights and support needed to thrive. At ICIS, we shape the world by connecting markets, optimizing global resources, and driving sustainable growth. Since joining LexisNexis Risk Solutions in April 2023, I have been committed to delivering value to our clients, understanding their unique challenges, and helping them navigate an ever-evolving market landscape.

This year's theme, ‘Accelerate Action,’ resonates well with me as it emphasizes the "action" portion of driving meaningful change. I firmly believe that you must be the change you wish to see, and this inspires me to actively contribute to creating an inclusive and empowering environment at LexisNexis Risk Solutions, where every woman can thrive and lead with confidence.

My peers, colleagues, and I benefit greatly from participating in the LexisNexis Risk Solutions Women Connected ERG mentorship program and the ICIS Women in Sales initiative. Additionally, as an active member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., I engage in community service with other professional women in our industry. These collective efforts have created a more inclusive environment and provided equitable access to professional development opportunities.

My advice for the next generation is to believe in your abilities and never underestimate the power of your voice. Embrace challenges as opportunities for growth, enjoy the journey, and always remember the importance of self-care. Authentic leadership comes from staying true to your values, supporting others along the way, and recognizing that every person you interact with has a meaningful place in the world and can teach you something valuable.

JYL GRYDER
Digital Marketing Manager, Healthcare - US

I have been with LexisNexis Risk Solutions for 2 years as the Digital Marketing Manager for the Healthcare business unit. I oversee a range of initiatives, including website updates, search engine optimization (SEO), paid advertising, paid social campaigns, and organic social media strategies. I aim to enhance brand visibility and strengthen Healthcare’s presence across digital channels, ensuring impactful and optimized engagement.

Early in my career, I was fortunate to have a supervisor who saw my potential and provided both the opportunities and mentorship needed to help me envision what I could achieve and started me on the journey of creating my path. Organizations thrive when they cultivate a culture that values individuals for their merit, independent of gender, race, or beliefs. By empowering employees to develop their skills and achieve their full potential, we build stronger, more inclusive workplaces that drive progress and innovation.

This year's International Women's Day theme, ‘Accelerate Action,’ deeply resonates with me. I firmly believe in the mantra, "Live the life you have imagined." This mantra is a reminder that each of us has the power to carve our own path toward the life we aspire. Every day presents a choice: to stand still or to take meaningful steps toward a better future. ‘Accelerate Action’ perfectly captures the spirit of choosing progress and making things happen.

To the next generation of women leaders: Knowledge is your greatest asset. Embrace the journey, start from the ground up, and absorb everything you can—understand the ins and outs of every role around you. Believe in yourself. Lead with strength and confidence, but always remain humble. True leadership isn’t defined by your title but by your ability to inspire and empower others to reach their fullest potential.

DELFINA FRANCO
Team Lead & Director, Business Development - South Africa & Lusophone Africa

In my role, I help businesses meet their regulatory requirements while staying competitive in an ever-evolving regulatory landscape. I joined LexisNexis Risk Solutions in 2016 as a Key Account Manager, focusing on the SADC region and Portuguese-speaking countries in Africa. Since then, I have been committed to supporting our clients with the expertise and solutions they need to navigate compliance with confidence

The theme of ‘Accelerate Action’ for this year’s International Women’s Day resonates as a clarion call to hasten the efforts toward achieving gender equality and empowering women worldwide. It signifies an amplified drive to address the long-standing disparities that women face, urging communities, organizations, and governments to prioritize and expedite measures that advance women’s rights. The theme underscores the urgency of closing gender gaps by addressing barriers like unequal pay and underrepresentation in leadership. At its core, ‘Accelerate Action’ is a commitment to driving meaningful change with urgency and impact.

For the next generation of women aspiring leadership roles, embracing self-confidence and continuous learning is crucial. Women should actively seek opportunities to enhance their skills, whether through workshops, courses, or on-the-job experiences, to stay competitive and knowledgeable. Building a strong network of mentors and peers is equally important, as they can offer guidance, support, and valuable insights. Women should not hesitate to seek feedback and be open to constructive criticism, using it as a tool for growth. It's essential to advocate for oneself, clearly communicating one's achievements and ambitions to leadership. Embracing visibility by taking on challenging projects and speaking up in meetings can showcase leadership potential. Practicing resilience in the face of setbacks can strengthen resolve and determination. Finally, maintaining a healthy work-life balance is vital to ensure long-term success and personal well-being.

NICOLE POWELL
Fraud and Identity Solutions Consultant, Business Services - US

As a Fraud and Identity Solutions Consultant, I get to assist our clients by working with them to assess their needs, develop customized and often complex solutions to solve those challenges. I've worked with our parent company, RELX, since 2013 and have been with LexisNexis Risk Solutions for the last 7 years.

This year’s theme, ‘Accelerate Action,’ really hits home for me. We’ve had some great conversations and made solid progress, but now it’s time to step it up and create an even bigger impact. It’s not just about talking about equality—it’s about pushing it forward in real, meaningful ways. One of the most powerful ways we can accelerate change is by seeing more women thrive in business, especially in tech, where we’re still underrepresented. Watching women not just succeed, but truly excel because of their skills, is what drives real progress.

In order to empower women in leadership, we need to keep shining a light on the incredible role models around us. Sharing their stories and celebrating their successes not only inspires us but also helps make their presence the norm, not the exception. The more we amplify their journeys, the more we show what’s possible. So let’s keep lifting them up, showcasing their impact, and celebrating their wins—because they’re paving the way for all of us!

The advice I’d give to the next generation of women—and a reminder to myself—is simple: don’t let gender define you. Embrace your true self and own it without apology. Go after what you want with determination. Find your purpose, your spark, and be boldly resilient in the face of challenges.
